Agape

Unconditional love. I first learned this word in my twenties. You’d think I’d have learned it before then, but no, I heard it one day during a James Dobson radio show I was listening to while painting my living room back in the eighties. The context was that God sent Jesus to die for us all to show the love between God and man, agape love. But since then I’ve learned that it also applies to the unconditional love we have for anybody or anything. Most often, I suppose, between parent and child. There is no word to describe that love other than overwhelming and breathtaking so I guess agape fits this. It’s sometimes shared between partners, if we’re lucky. It sometimes applies to pets. I know many people who cherish their pets as much or more than other people. It should apply to all souls, whether it be human or animal. But most of all it should apply to ourselves. I read a quote recently that hit me all the way to my core. If I asked you who you love, how long would the list have to be before you say yourself? You should always be first. You have to love yourself before you can love anyone or anything else truly. Yet it’s one of the things we find hardest in this world. Whether it be from upbringing or self-doubt, we tend to have such a hard time loving ourselves. But we must. The universe demands in order to truly connect to another entity, we must be on the same vibrational frequency, thought to be 432Hz. You have to love yourself to love and to be loved. But we can send it out to everyone, whether we beat on the same frequency or not. Once that soul feels the love vibration, they’ll want to raise their own frequency to match it. Thus by sending out love to all souls, we help raise the universal frequency to that of love, unconditional, agape love.
