Joy

Can you hear this child laughing? The sweet, contagious, pure laugh of a child. His dad has probably tossed him up in the air, probably more than once. The child is delighted and joyful. The kind of joyful only a child can truly be. Before the world changes him. The kind of joyful we should be. All of us, all the time. Even in bad times. Yes, we can be sad at times but behind that we should be joyful. Just like the sun is always behind the clouds. It should always be there for us and we should be able to depend on it, know it’s always there and will always come again. Like the last hour of the last day of school before summer break. Like the first time holding your newborn baby or grandbaby. Like the minute the ring comes out for the proposal. Like turning the key to your first very own home. As long as we hold on to joy, the feeling, the memory, the wish of it, this crazy world can’t hurt us, can’t break us. No matter what. No. Matter. What. So chin up buttercup. Remember it. Live it. Dance alone in the dark. Drive with the windows down and the music way too loud. Better yet, sing with a live band. Playing or singing, just kick in with it. There is no feeling on this earth better than feeling the music. Even tear-jerkers. They make you feel, remind you that you’re alive. And as long as you’re alive you can feel joy, be happy, love. It’s always love. The bottom line is always love. The pure joy of complete, whole and total love. So love yourself. Love everybody else, this whole world and every being in it. Do your level best every day you wake up and draw breath to spread joy. It’s what you’re here for. Do it!
