Sunday Musings

I don’t have to tell any of you that the goings on in this world right now are at a frantic pace. The snowball is rolling down the hill getting larger and larger, running over everything in its path. My goal this weekend was to stay out of the way of the snowball and enjoy this beautiful, heavenly, sunshiny, spring weather. I spent hours yesterday sitting in the sunshine feeling like a cat in a window. I was back out on the porch again today enjoying the sights and sounds of the world that are not being heard and seen on any electronic media at the moment. I am happy to say Charlotte is still speaking to me after long neglect of our friendship while I was dealing with germs and cold weather. It was a happy reunion between friends. As I was meditating on the sights and sounds of nature, I was visited by a fairy which I took as confirmation by my guardian angels that they are indeed still around and watching over me. It fluttered here and there in the whooshing wind for a good while so it had to be an energetic being with its own force or it would have gotten blown away in short order. I gave thanks, therefore, that my guardians are still there and more thanks for the blatant reminder. I also was visited by a number of squirrels who were, and have been all day, frantically searching out, digging up and eating the acorns buried so carefully back in the fall. How in the world do they know where to dig? How do they know which acorns are theirs? Do they randomly just eat all they find not taking into consideration that other squirrels might be counting on them for nourishment at a later date? Do they commonly share the cache or will some other squirrel meet up with them on the fence post and demand to know why they ate their dinner? Somehow nature works all this out. I may be wrong, but I strongly doubt squirrels even consider all these questions and others that have kept my mind busy for over a half century. I think and think and think and I will never be so organized or prepared as to be able to find a nugget of food I buried 4 months ago at some random location and dig it up and count on it being a meal. Ask me a password I created yesterday for some website and you’re almost certain to get that look, you know, the one that says I have absolutely no clue. And I also have no clue where the sticky note is that I wrote it down on so I can remember it. We humans are so egotistical to think we’re the rulers of this world. We’re not. Squirrels are. They have it all together I tell you. Charlotte will confirm.
