Today’s the perfect day for piddling. Kind of a lazy day but not lazy enough to nap all day. The kind of day for cleaning out a drawer thinking that’s all you want to get done today. Which leads to putting things away. Which leads to sorting out a box and finding bits and bobs, out of sight, out of mind kind of stuff. Which leads to coming across something you haven’t seen in a while but reminds you that you meant to search the internet for information about the item. Which leads to the first or second cup of coffee to sip on while you’re searching. Which leads to going through more boxes when you remember something else you have but haven’t seen in a while. Which leads to an “a-hah” moment that makes you wonder why you left that beautiful candle holder in the box for so long. Which leads to pulling out the box of candles you’ve had stored because the candle holder wasn’t on display. Which leads to lighting a heavenly-smelling candle that leads to memories associated with that particular candle. Which leads to missing someone or recalling a long-lingering memory. Which leads to another cup of coffee for reminiscing while watching the rain running down the window. Which leads, after a long while of day-dreaming, to noticing the window needs cleaning. Which leads to cleaning half the windows in the house while you’re at it. Which leads to deciding you’ve done enough piddling for one day. Which leads to the realization that your piddling day turned into a day of many accomplishments. Ah, the joys of a lazy, rainy, piddling day!
